My Philosophy of Early Childhood Education

When it comes to focusing on a child's development, I feel parents and caregivers must work as a team, therefore open communication is of upmost importance. When you drop your child off in the morning, I will ask you about your child's night at home and at pick-up time I will share all the details of the day. As for infants, I will keep a journal to send home with you at night to ensure our communication is thorough.

Early literacy is a focal point of my program. Books are always available for the children to explore and we read together each day. Beyond this, I make it a point to relate my curriculum to the books we read, webbing out to include math, writing, science and a variety of social activities.

My program also reflects developmentally and culturally appropriate practices. Respect for all cultures is evident in reading materials and toys I provide. It is a given that children learn by doing, so I provide the children with rich, hands-on learning experiences which are both fun and educational. In keeping with this hands-on theme, I also schedule frequent field trips that enhance the curriculum of my program. My ultimate goal is for the children to enjoy today's experiences at my childcare and to look forward to returning tomorrow.

My household is non smoking. I also have two small and non-allergic dogs; Molly and Spencer (Cockapoos) who are very good with children.
